Organised by Bishop Fleming, the accountancy firm with offices throughout the region, the event will be staged in Kingsley Village near Truro on 18th January, when more than twenty-five funding and business support organisations will be present, including providers of grants, loans, equity investment, and asset-backed lending.
According to Ewan McClymont, Bishop Fleming’s head of grants and corporate development for Cornwall said: “We have had a phenomenal response in double-quick time, and are now up to full capacity for the venue, although we are still recording all applicants, who will go on a waiting list for any drop-outs and will receive all reports from the event.
“This strong response underlines that Cornish business owners are struggling to obtain sufficient levels of conventional funding. Cornwall is fortunate in having a wider range of alternative funding options, and this event is focused on highlighting some of those available”, said Mr McClymont.
The half-day event will also explore such issues as graduate recruitment, export, rural diversification, premises, training, mentoring & coaching, energy reduction, collaboration networks, productivity gain, and superfast broadband.
“Business owners in Cornwall now face a mix of challenges and opportunities.
“The delivery of super-fast broadband and access to EU Convergence funds provides a real opportunity: but the restricted access to conventional finance makes investment in growing those Cornish businesses a big challenge”, said Mr McClymont.
“Our event at Kingsley Village is designed to give Cornish business-owners a practical steer towards alternative sources of funding, and encourage them to take advantage of the many EU Convergence support schemes that are still available”, said Mr McClymont.
