Role: ACA Trainee

Start Date: September 2008

Reporting to: Corporate Services Partner via the Corporate Services Manager

Role:
Work experience is structured around your course work and full expenses are covered for your ACA course. Initially you will be working in an established Audit and Accounts Department where you will be involved with audit and tax compliance work as well as accounts preparation for a range of clients. You will quickly be going out to clients to work on audit and accounts projects.
As your experience grows and you advance through the ACA qualification to become a fully qualified Chartered Accountant, you can then move on through our Management structure with your own portfolio of clients. You may also gain experience in other specialist departments, such as tax, forensic, corporate finance, and business recovery. Our current trainees may become our future Partners!

Responsibilities:
a) Undertaking client accounts, audit and tax work using the firm’s office manual and client care procedures to ensure all department assignments are completed to the same high standard
b) Accurately completing all assignments within agreed timetables to ensure assignments are completed on time
c) Investigating and resolving (where possible) problems arising during the assignments and notifying accounts manager of unresolved problems to ensure they are addressed on time
d) Becoming and remaining familiar with the client’s internal reporting and control procedures to ensure the assignment is completed with minimal disruption to the client’s staff
e) Recording work in a clear and concise manner, ensuring all working papers are legible and well presented to allow other team members to clearly understand the work completed
f) Ensuring all outgoing work is proof-read and authorised according to the firm’s procedures
g) Keeping Accounts/Audit managers up-to-date on all dealings with the clients
h) Maintaining time-recording on client affairs on a daily basis in accordance with the firms procedures
i) Liaising with the tax department on clients tax issues as required
j) Liaising with other departments as necessary on client affairs
k) Marketing the firm and helping to bring in new clients at every available opportunity
l) Keeping technically up-to-date with company, tax and other relevant legislation

Qualifications:
Graduates or qualified AAT candidates with or without relevant experience will be considered with FULL support for ACA. Graduates ideally with a 2:1 or higher, with relevant subjects eg Maths/Science related

Personal:
We are looking for well-organised, enthusiastic, self-motivated team players, with a thorough, systematic approach, keen to gain practical experience whilst obtaining the ACA qualification. You must be confident, outgoing and not afraid to work with clients, with proficient clerical and IT skills, and full clean driving licence.
