Navigating your way to success

Not surprisingly, being in the South West and surrounded by water we have a high number of marine related businesses in the region. Having a team of accountants specialising in the marine sector seems very logical especially as many of our staff spend much of their leisure time enjoying the marine environment.

Our Team is headed by Charlie Thomson, himself a keen sailor, and comprises specialists from across a range of disciplines such as audit and accounts, tax and VAT.

Charlie commented, “The businesses we work with range from marine fabrication and engineering to clothing businesses. The sector has gone through a great deal of change over the last 10 years and the successful businesses we have helped have now emerged fitter and more competitive as a result.”

Having worked for a decade at one of the ‘Big 4’ accountants in Bristol, Barbados, and Bermuda, Charlie joined Bishop Fleming’s Bristol office in 1989. He was Partner in Charge of that office for six years, and managed the firm’s move to a new office in the city’s Queen Square before transferring to Plymouth.
