Head of Corporate Finance

Having trained and qualified with a 'Big 4' accountancy firm, Jonathan also has a wealth of experience in industry, including seven years as a Group Financial Controller of a London-listed group of companies.

Since Jonathan joined Bishop Fleming in 1999, the firm’s Corporate Finance team has grown to ten people, handling more than £100 million of transactions per year, spanning due diligence, Management Buyouts (MBOs), company disposals, and acquisitions.

Jonathan is a recognised expert in transaction management, and is an adviser on entry to the “PLUS Market”. He also works with Bishop Fleming’s specialist sector teams, serving Care Homes, Charities & Not-for-Profit, Tourism & Leisure, Property & Construction, and Marine Industries – providing expert advice on company sales, acquisitions, and re-financing.

Robert joined the firm in 1991 and was made partner in 1993. Having trained and qualified with a medium firm, he went on to work for one of the ‘Big 4’ firms of accountants on the audit side in the United Arab Emirates.

Robert is one of the firm’s Corporate Finance Partners and looks after the firm's Corporate Finance work for the Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay and Truro offices. Robert's background is working with owner-managed corporate businesses which gives him a very good understanding the issues faced by business managers. Robert has managed transactions for multi-billion pound businesses but the bulk of his work is with small and medium size enterprises, working with their management teams.

Robert has considerable experience of sales and acquisitions, mergers and de-mergers, MBOs and MBIs, Valuations and Transaction Support (Due Diligence). Robert brings enthusiasm and a positive can-do approach to actually making transactions happen.
