Open, honest + focused on you

Applying for a new role is a big decision. We want you to understand what to expect, feel able to be yourself and have every opportunity to decide whether Bishop Fleming is right for you.

Our recruitment process is designed to be open, fair and straightforward. We’ll take time to understand your experience, skills and ambitions. Just as importantly, we’ll give you opportunities to meet our people, learn about the role and ask us questions.

Collaborative + informative

We want to know what you could bring to Bishop Fleming. But we also want you to be confident that we can offer the right environment for you.

Throughout the recruitment process, you’ll be able to ask about the role, the team, our culture and the practical details of working here. We'll share plenty of information about the role and responsibilities, the team and life at Bishop Fleming, helping you understand what you can expect and whether we feel like the right place for you to thrive.

You don’t need to present a polished version of what you think we want to see. We want to understand the real you, the experiences that have shaped you and what you could contribute to our team.

As much as we want to know about what you can offer us, we also want you to be sure that we're the right business for you.

Ellie Steedman, Talent Acquisition Administrator

Values driven + fair

Our values drive our approach to recruitment. This means that we aim to make it an open and honest process, where everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed. We’ll look for how you reflect our values and we may ask about situations where you have:

  • Understood the needs of a client, colleague or stakeholder and tailored your approach to support them

  • Built open, positive relationships by listening, learning and respecting different viewpoints

  • Brought a fresh perspective, embraced new ideas or influenced positive change

  • Demonstrated integrity, taken ownership or built trust through your actions

  • Partnered with others to achieve more together and contribute to team success

You can draw on examples from employment, education, volunteering, extracurricular activities or other areas of your life. What matters is that you explain the situation clearly, tell us what you did and reflect on what you learned.

Our typical recruitment process

The exact process may vary depending on the role, level of experience and career route. We’ll explain the stages that apply to you and keep you informed as your application progresses.

Find a suitable vacancy through Search our jobs and complete the online application form. We'll ask you to provide your details and attach your CV.

We’ll then send you an email confirming that we’ve received your application.

We will review your CV and the information you’ve provided against the requirements of the role.

If your application is a good match, we’ll contact you to explain the next stage. If we need any additional information, we’ll let you know.

You may be invited to an initial interview with a member of our Talent Acquisition team.

This is an opportunity for us to learn more about your experience, interests and reasons for applying. You can also ask questions and find out more about the role and Bishop Fleming.

The next stage will usually involve meeting the hiring manager and other members of our team.

We’ll explore your experience, skills and approach in more detail. You’ll also be able to learn how the team works, what the role involves and what life at Bishop Fleming could look like for you.

Depending on the vacancy, the process may include further interviews, an assessment or a practical task. If this applies, we’ll tell you what to expect and give you time to prepare.

If we think you’re right for the role and Bishop Fleming feels right for you, we’ll make you an offer.

Our Talent Acquisition team will provide the details you need, including your offer letter and contract, and will be available to answer any questions.

Once you’ve accepted your offer, we’ll complete the necessary pre-employment checks and keep in touch before your first day.

Your manager will welcome you to the team, and we’ll make sure you have the information you need to get started.

Preparing for your interview

Good preparation can help you to feel more confident and make the most of your interview.

Before speaking with us:

  • Read the job description carefully
  • Think about why the role interests you
  • Learn about Bishop Fleming and our values
  • Prepare examples that demonstrate your skills and experience
  • Think about what you want to ask us
  • Check any practical details, such as the time, location or video link

AI tools can help you research our firm, organise your thoughts and practice possible questions. They should support your preparation, not replace your own experiences, judgement or personality.

Read our guidance on using AI for your application before using these tools as part of your application.

It’s a two-way process and we encourage you to ask as many questions as possible, so you’re sure that we’re right for you, too.
