National Payroll Week celebrates the payroll profession as it continues to evolve and receive the long overdue recognition it richly deserves.

The week-long initiative is organised by the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP), the only Chartered Institute for payroll and pension professionals in the UK.

As the CIPP states, with over 285 pieces of legislation affecting payroll administration and over £446 billion collected through National Insurance and tax contributions, payroll and pensions play a significant role in the UK economy.

The advent of pension auto-enrolment has forced many employers to outsource their payroll administration to a dedicated payroll team who can not only deal with all the PAYE filing requirements but deal with also workplace pension administration.

Payroll is an evolving profession, not only because of the growing complexity of the legislation, but also because of government-sponsored changes to technology and an ever-increasing awareness by employers that they need to reward, motivate, attract and retain the right talent that they need.

Bishop Fleming Payroll Services provides a fully managed payroll and workplace pension administration service, keeping clients up to date with all relevant regulatory changes. The team services over 900 public and private sector organisations throughout the UK, offering a BACSTEL-IP approved bureau, and continues to attract many new clients.

The payroll team at Bishop Fleming takes its work very seriously, ensuring an accurate, compliant and timely service is provided to all payroll clients, thus reducing a major burden on them whilst they get on with running their organisations.

The CIPP’s Annual Excellence Awards are also designed to recognise the true value of payroll and pension professionals who continue to make an outstanding contribution to the profession. Bishop Fleming’s payroll team has been shortlisted for this year’s award.
