Bishop Fleming present award to top tech business

Top 30 accountancy firm, Bishop Fleming have proudly sponsored the ‘People’s Choice Award’ at this years, SPARKies awards.

The award ceremony, running for its 7th consecutive year, was held in the UNESCO world heritage city of Bath, at the Assembly Rooms on 27 June.

The night saw 16 different categories, which celebrated the entire tech spectrum, from outstanding tech start-ups to mentors, hardware and virtual reality.  Shining the light on the very best people, product and companies that make up the tech sector in Bristol, Bath and the broader West of England region.

Bishop Fleming were proud sponsors of the ‘People’s Choice Award’, and on the evening was won by Open Bionics.

Bishop Fleming Partner, John Talbot presented the award to Open Bionics, Samantha Payne.

Open Bionics develop affordable, assistive devices that enhance the human body and are ‘on a mission to make beautiful bionic limbs more accessible’.

The company, based in Bristol, was founded by Joel Gibbard and Samantha Payne in 2014, and with the help of their team and the support of the limb different community, they’re pioneering a new bionic age inspired by science fiction.

Winning Company co-founder, Samantha Payne said: “Open Bionics is a robotics company building multi-grip bionic arms for amputees; we turn children with limb differences into bionic superheroes.

“We were up for three awards, and it’s just really good recognition for the team, Open Bionics has an incredible collection of people and they are all experts in their field.

“We’ve got this far because everyone on the team is amazing. Getting an award to recognise everyone’s efforts is pretty cool."
