Marketing Gloucester Limited Liquidation

20th February 2020

Marketing Gloucester Limited – a subsidiary of Gloucester City Council has ceased trading and is going into liquidation. It is proposed that Jonathan Williams, Partner and Head of Restructuring at Bishop Fleming will be appointed as Liquidator.

A spokesperson for the board of Marketing Gloucester said “It is with deep regret and sadness that Marketing Gloucester is in the position of having to commence insolvency. Following widespread reporting of the difficulties the organisation has been going through, a detailed review of finances has revealed that the financial position is untenable. Staff have been informed of this decision and the company will cease trading immediately. We would like to extend our thanks and support to the staff for all their hard work over the years. We appreciate that this will be a difficult time for them and their families, but unfortunately the board have been left with no other option.”

Gloucester City Council has reaffirmed its commitment to events and place marketing in the city by bringing in 4 members of Marketing Gloucester who will work at Gloucester City Council as part of the authority’s commitment to support marketing of the city and to ensure that planned events in February and March happen as planned. The employees will work for the council on 3 months fixed term contracts.

In addition to the liquidation of the company, Jonathan’s role will be to investigate the financial position of the company and the reasons for its failure.

Jonathan Williams said: “As Liquidator I will be realising the assets of the company in the interests of creditors but it is too early to say whether there will be a return to creditors. As part of the process for appointing me as Liquidator, the Board and I will be contacting all known creditors over the course of the next couple of weeks.

Any enquiries relating to the above should be directed to Jack Callow, Restructuring Manager in the first instance.
