A staggering £34,500 has been raised from the Cornwall Air Ambulance Runway Runaround 10k race, sponsored by Top 30 firm, Bishop Fleming.

The event held at Newquay Airport in aid of the New Heli Appeal, saw more than 600 runners partake in the race on November 3.

Bishop Fleming supported one of the largest fundraising events in Cornwall as part of their centenary year. The firm has committed to raising £100,000 for a number of charitable causes throughout the year to mark its milestone.

The event was a fantastic opportunity for the firm to continue its fundraising whilst bringing together its staff, clients and the community. The firm has also become a gold partner of Cornwall Air Ambulance New Heli Appeal, which aims to bring a new air ambulance helicopter to Cornwall by 1st April 2020.

Sarah Walker, Fundraising Officer at Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust said: “We were delighted with the fantastic turnout for this year’s Runway Runaround helping to raise money for the new helicopter.

“It was a pleasure to have Bishop Fleming on board as our event sponsors, they not only helped on the day but had 20 runners taking part.

“I’d like to thank Cornwall Airport Newquay for allowing us exclusive access to this unique route, all of our suppliers, volunteers and of course our participants who helped make this such a successful event.”

The charity doesn’t receive government funding and relies solely on donations to keep flying. The crew are called to some of the most critical and life-threatening cases in Cornwall and fly over 700 missions every year.

Alison Oliver, partner at Bishop Fleming said: “We were delighted to be title sponsor of this year’s Cornwall Air Ambulance Runway Runaround in our centenary year.

“It was a great event and a pleasure to raise money for such a worthwhile and vital cause, we look forward to supporting them in their continued appeal.”
