Leading West Midlands accountancy firm, Bishop Fleming have won a prestigious regional award for its significant commitment to its employees’ health and wellbeing.

The growing firm, which delivers audit, accounting, tax, corporate and advisory services won the ‘Health and Wellbeing in the workplace 2019 award’ at the annual Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber Business Awards on July 4th.

The award caps off a fantastic 12 months for the firm, which has also seen its Worcester office gaining formal accreditation with the Worcester Works Well health and wellbeing scheme in May.

Judging the award, Mike Moran MBE, Chief Executive Officer from Proton Partners International said: “Everything they do is around the health and wellbeing for their staff, their clients, and their engagement in the community. It is one of the best businesses I have ever judged.”

The award is the latest in a string of successes for the firm, which is celebrating its centenary year in 2019. The firm has already smashed its centenary fundraising target of £100,000 through a range of sporting and wellbeing activities, including half marathons, a rowing challenge, a 24-hour Three Peaks Challenge and most recently a 100 mile sponsored walk.

The firm has recognised that having fit, healthy and happy employees provides a better client service and attracts and retains the best people, making the business more successful throughout.

Bishop Fleming’s health and wellbeing initiative is led by its own people, with ‘Wellbeing Champions’ appointed in each of the firm’s seven offices to drive a culture of health and wellbeing throughout the business.

In its Worcester office, a programme of regular talks and activities across health, mental, financial and nutritional topics, have been supported by the installation of gym equipment and a table tennis table, and the provision of free water bottles and weekly fresh fruit – all designed to encourage its people to get active and stay healthy. The initiative has become key to enabling its people to maximise their potential and continue to deliver great support to clients.

Chris Walklett, partner at Bishop Fleming said: “We are so proud to have won this highly coveted award and it speaks volumes about the people and culture at Bishop Fleming. Our people are the energy behind our well-being and CSR programmes, and to see their efforts recognised in such a prestigious way is fantastic.

We have ambitious plans for our future and this award will help us attract more talented people enabling us to continue delivering our growth.”
