Ahead of the 2025 SPARKies Awards – a celebration of the best in South West tech – Zara Harris, Accountancy Director, spoke with Meg from Signable, a Bristol-based scale-up and double nominee for Scale-Up of the Year and Best Place to Work. With strong growth, meaningful innovation, and a standout culture, Signable represents the kind of sustainable innovation the region is known for.

Signable is one of the UK's leading eSignature software platforms and we’re really focused on making digital document management simple and stress-free for businesses. Right now, we’re working on some really exciting updates and partnerships to improve the way our platform fits into different industries. We work closely with our customers, so a lot of what we develop is shaped by their feedback. It’s really about helping teams work smarter, save time, and stay compliant, without overcomplicating things.
We’re really proud. Being nominated in two categories is a big deal, it feels like real recognition for the work we’ve done over the past year. Scale-Up of the Year acknowledges how much we’ve grown and Best Place to Work is recognition of the amazing culture we’ve built, one that genuinely supports and values people. To have both acknowledged side by side feels incredibly rewarding.

There have been a few! Toward the end of 2024, we secured ISO 27001 accreditation and kicked off 2025 by becoming an Advanced Electronic Signature (AES) provider. Both took a huge amount of work behind the scenes, and they’ve really helped strengthen trust in our platform. On the product side, we’ve continued investing in our API and rolled out new integrations with key tools like HubSpot and Slack, with more on the way.
Culturally, we’ve kept up momentum too. We hit a 98% retention rate in 2024/25, which we’re incredibly proud of, and we’ve expanded our policies and introduced new ones that reflect the kind of workplace we want to be. It’s been a big year of both product and people growth, and we’re proud of how far we’ve come.
Yes, this was a real highlight for us. Slack actually reached out to us first and that sparked the idea to build an integration into our platform. Once it was live, they invited us to take part in their global product-led growth campaign, which turned into our biggest brand moment to date. The co-marketing campaign generated over 53 million impressions and brought more than 12,000 people to our site. That kind of exposure had a huge impact on our visibility and really elevated us as a brand, it was a really exciting one to be part of!

For us, it all comes down to clarity, growth, and flexibility. We’ve made career pathways clear, evolved how we do performance reviews, and introduced new policies that have come directly from employee feedback such as a monthly co-working space budget for those who live further away, enhanced second-parent leave, and an EMI share scheme so everyone can share in the success of the business.
And when we say we prioritise wellbeing, we mean it. It’s something that’s truly baked into how we work. People genuinely feel supported here, and I think that’s a big part of why our retention rate is at 98% and our engagement and growth are so strong.

We absolutely love being part of it. The South West tech scene is just really collaborative, there’s a proper sense of community, and people are genuinely happy to share ideas, help each other out, and cheer each other on. It never feels cutthroat or overly competitive. Events like the SPARKies are such a great example of that, it’s all about shining a light on the brilliant people, teams, and talent in the region. There’s a real pride in what’s being built down here, and it’s exciting to be part of it.
