Jon Sparkes - Tax Director

Jon Sparkes has nearly 20 years experience of advising limited companies, owner-managed businesses and charities on direct tax matters. Prior to joining Bishop Fleming he spent 9 years with a Big Four firm.

He has worked with a wide range of manufacturing and technology business including manufacturers of food and drink and niche machinery plus a large number of retail businesses. He also has significant experience of working with businesses in leisure and sport. His qualifications include FCA.

His work with high-tech and innovative businesses in the software, web design and renewable energy sectors has included taxation advice relating to tax efficient group structuring, Research and Development Tax Relief, maximising capital allowance claims, tax implications for the acquisition and disposal of Intellectual Property and UK tax implications of overseas trading.

In addition to this Jon has provided advice to owners of manufacturing and technology businesses on cash extraction, employee reward and Capital Taxes.

Jon is also Bishop Fleming’s charity tax specialist having worked with a number of charities to assist with tax efficient group restructuring, maximising gift aid, mitigating tax arising from non-primary purpose trading including property development and non-qualifying investments. He has also advised a number of other not for profit organisations including amateur sports clubs.

Jon is a committed volunteer in local sport being treasurer of his cricket club and Finance Director of Devon Cricket Board Limited.
