Graduates

Our first class ACA training programmes will enable graduates to develop into a chartered accountant within three years. Initially working in either our audit or tax teams, you will gain early responsibility from day one and undertake a diverse range of work including accounting and audit projects, through to analysis and client advice.

As part of the programme, we pay for and support you through the ICAEW ACA Qualification as part of a Level 7 apprenticeship programme. For certain weeks throughout the year, you will attend one of accredited training providers where you will receive tuition and take your ACA exams. Your training would normally take three years to complete.

Our approach to trainee recruitment focuses on long term investment. We will provide you with the skills and experiences needed to allow for you to develop into both technical experts and the future leaders of our business. We look for aspiring managers, directors and partners who will contribute to the growth and success of our business whilst developing their own rewarding careers.  

You will have the opportunity to gain experience in other departments to help broaden your accountancy knowledge. Once qualified there are various options for you, such as specialising in Corporate Finance, applying for one of our development programmes or choosing to study further qualifications such as the Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) qualification.

We welcome applications from all degree disciplines – you will just need to be predicted or already hold a 2:2 degree classification or higher. You will be a business advisor to your clients, so it is essential that you have excellent communication skills and have a keen interest in understanding how businesses operate.

Undergraduates

Our 12 Month Industrial Placements provide you with the opportunity to gain excellent work experience which complements your degree studies. Most of our placement students start work within our audit departments and then have the opportunity to gain experience in other areas such as tax and business services.

Our placements are an excellent way to get a valuable insight into our business, and to give you an understanding of our culture and how we work with our clients. It will develop your interpersonal skills within the working environment, build your commercial acumen, all supported by a mentor and buddy. Many of our placement students are offered places on our ACA graduate training programme once they have completed their studies.

School Leavers

Both of our School Leaver programmes enable you to train as an accountant without having to go to university!

Launch Pad (ACA) – Level 7 Apprenticeship

Our Launch Pad programme enables you to train to become an ACA Chartered Accountant in 5 years. Aimed at highly ambitious school leavers who possess fantastic academics, you will experience rotations around a range of departments so will quickly gain valuable work experience within our Business Services, Audit and Tax teams. As your experience grows, so will the level of responsibility that you have.

Throughout the programme, you will attend one of our accredited training providers where you will study for your ACA qualification as part of a Level 7 Apprenticeship. This programme will provide you with a launch pad to accelerate your early career progression within our firm.

To be considered for Launch Pad, you will need to hold GCSE Maths Grade A (7) and be predicted or already hold 3 A Levels Grade A A B with ideally Maths or a Business related subject at Grade B or higher.

AAT or ATT Trainees

The AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) and ATT (Association of Taxation Technicians) qualifications provide you with the knowledge that you need as you take your first steps into the accountancy profession.    

  • AAT trainees work across our Corporate and Business Services and Audit teams where you will carry out a range of work including accounts preparation and tax computation tasks. As you gain more experience, you will have the opportunity to go out to client sites to undertake audit assignments.
  • ATT trainees play a key role within our tax teams. Focusing predominately on tax compliance, you will gain experience in processing of personal tax returns as well as supporting wider team on providing tax advice to both corporate business and personal tax clients.

You will study the qualifications via day release and will have the support of an accredited training provider. Both qualifications take 2 – 3 years to complete and you may have the opportunity to study further qualifications in the future.
