We recently moved to Bishop Fleming after discussing our growth plans with our bank manager. We had frustrations with our current accountant... and asked for a recommendation for an accountant that would be more pro-active and able to help us with our growth plans and they put us in touch with Dan White at Bishop Fleming. From an early point in our relationship Bishop Fleming were able to offer commercial and pragmatic advice which resulted in a change in our historic structure to not only cater for growth geographically but also to become more tax efficient. We find Dan and his team incredibly personable and easy to work with.

I first met Dan White some 5 years ago as Bishop Fleming were the accountants for the Pioneering Independence. At a time when Pioneering Independence was facing uncertainty, Dan provided reassurance with his professional and calm approach.  As a qualified nurse I fully understand the services that my company provide, however as finances were not my strong point, Dan and Bishop Fleming worked tirelessly explaining every detail to me; not just as a client, but as a valued business partner; and whilst I was unable to see a solution for my company, Dan was not fazed at all and he talked about each and every issue with a smile and a most reassuring manner.  Even when the company faced major cash flow problems, Dan had full command of the situation and the intricacies involved to resolve such a difficult situation.  Not only was he was able to provide a clear strategy to achieve the best possible result in a difficult situation, but furthermore he was able to support and advise me on the necessary cost cutting that was required to enable the company to survive. We had no option at the time but to enter into a factoring facility, but unfortunately without a qualified finance officer in place at the time we made further errors due to a lack of understanding of the solution.

Dan attended meetings and negotiated with our bank manager enabling a trusting relationship to develop between our bank and the company.  Had Dan not attended those meetings with me and the bank manager am confident that the company would not be where it is today. Once the company was in a better position financially, I was enough fortunate that we could then employ a qualified accountant.  Dan yet again exceeded himself by guiding and helping me to ensure that the individuals applying for the role had the correct qualifications and experience.  He personally checked the CVs and applications, which ensured that we were able to employ someone who has been an absolute asset to the company who has assisted me and driven the company forward.  The company is financially viable once more. In addition to the challenges outlined above, the other primary shareholder wanted to sell their shares in the company.  Dan, yet again, navigated me in the right direction initially liaising with the other shareholder ensuring that the company was valued correctly and that the buy out would be fair, at which point the shareholder backed out of the negotiations.

However, at a later date another offer was made, which after much debate, was accepted.  Dan was able to recommend solicitors from his professional network who were able to move speedily and the deal was completed. I cannot thank Dan enough for his support, time understanding and counsel at the most difficult period of my life.  He was there at every corner and held me up when I thought everything around me was going to collapse.  He stands by his commitments and fulfils every request that was required at this time I would highly recommend Dan as he values and cares for his clients with a caring and calm approach.
