The Plymouth office of Top 30 advisory firm, Bishop Fleming, continues to expand with the recruitment of three new trainees to help keep pace with growth in the city’s economy.

The firm, which delivers accounting, tax, corporate restructuring and advisory services to businesses, academies and charities and private wealth advice to individuals, has expanded its growing team with the appointments of Emily Cox, Charlie Badham and Scott Taskis.

Emily is a graduate trainee from the city who has just finished her degree in Biological Sciences at Plymouth University. A keen athlete, she represented both the Hampshire and South of England Squash teams for which she was awarded the Victor Ludorum. Emily also served as the Chair of the city’s university squash society.

Charlie is a graduate trainee from Saltash who has just finished her degree in Economics and Accounting at the University of Leicester. She previously undertook work experience at Bishop Fleming in 2014. A keen swimmer, Charlie worked as a lifeguard and swimming teacher in Connecticut USA and was a member of the Leicester University swimming and water polo club.

Scott is a 12-month placement student from Southampton University who is studying Accounting and Finance. He lives in Launceston. A dedicated cricket player for over 12 years, Scott has represented various teams and has been a team captain, as well as being on the committee of the Southampton University Cricket Club.

All three will be joining the exciting Corporate team in Plymouth, having the opportunity to provide accounting and assurance services to a diverse range of clients across Devon and Cornwall. They will also receive a substantial programme of technical and personal development training along the way.

Bishop Fleming’s Partner in Charge of the Plymouth Office, Robert Davey, welcomed the trio to the team, saying it was now one of the largest in the region, having grown substantially in the last few years.

Robert said: “With the city’s economy continuing to grow, we are recruiting to reflect an increasing demand for our services. At the same time, we continue to develop our existing team with tailored training programmes.”

He added: “In addition to local recruitment, the office has also recently undertaken a significant investment in IT equipment, remote working software and video conferencing facilities, so the Plymouth team can call on a substantial body of specialists from across the firm’s other offices to meet client needs.”

Bishop Fleming is ranked 26th in the Sunday Times Top 100 places to work, accredited as an “outstanding” employer. The firm is also ranked in the Top 30 league table of accountancy firms in the country.
