Waste management platform, Binit® is far from just rubbish! May Argyle-Lander met with Catherine Holcombe and Sara Binti Azizi from Binit Group Limited following their recent award success.

They were crowned winners of “The Good Award” at TheSPARKies2024, with co-founder and CEO Philippa Roberts also being shortlisted for the “Awesome Human Award”, as well as being shortlisted for the “Commitment to Diversity” award at the Tech South West Awards in November 2024.
Binit® (www.binituk.com) is a waste management platform that helps businesses improve their collections, measure their carbon and maintain compliance.
Unlike other brokers, we operate a unique waste brokerage model using a unique collection network to carry out traditional collections.
We use our own bins, and use data analytics and new patent-pending hardware to track and manage waste more effectively.
We are also developing a waste management platform, and this is where technology comes in!
In November 2023, we closed our third round of funding worth £750k from the South West Investment Fund (SWIF) and Yeo Valley Investments. We were the first company that SWIF invested in, and the company is now preparing to raise Series A funding in late 2025.
Since our last investment raise, we are on track to double our team, and we will be continuing our expansion in 2025. We officially launched our Waste Management Platform this January and will be continuing to develop our patent-pending hardware.
Binit® has recently become one of eight innovators selected by Connected Places Catapult for the Station Innovation Zone Competition:
Our proposal focuses on the “Back-of-House Green Challenge” which uses data-driven solutions to track and improve resource usage and sustainability.

Binit® has successfully established itself within the sustainability and waste management sectors by winning or being shortlisted for awards in this area.
However, at its core Binit® is a tech business, but we’ve never really presented ourselves as a tech business. Entering the Tech South West Awards was a step towards establishing ourselves in this space and building on the fact that we are an ethical tech company who care about our values.
Our commitment to diversity is supported by initiatives such as blind recruitment processes which has led to an even split of male and female employees, an ethnically diverse workforce, 30% LGBTQIA+ representation, 100% female management and a 75% female board.
We support our employees with further education, and currently three of the thirteen members of staff are completing apprenticeships. We offer apprenticeships to those who haven’t attended further education and to staff who may have attended university, but their degree may not support their current role.
Our CEO, Philippa Roberts, recognises the value in apprenticeships and how they can help enhance an employee’s skillset.
We also operate an ongoing internship scheme with Exeter University, as well as work experience for school students. We are keen to support new talent and provide students with experience.
As a valued client in our technology sector, would you be able to provide us with a short testimonial on our services.
Catherine Holcombe, Operations Director:
There are many good reasons why we have been a client of Bishop Fleming for over 5 years. Bishop Fleming has catered to our different needs as we have grown as a business, from bookkeeping to full accounting services. They also have a responsive, helpful and friendly team.
