Plymouth office helps feed families at Christmas

Bishop Fleming has raised a significant amount of money to help feed Devon and Cornwall families this Christmas.

The firm has been delivering unprecedented support and advice this year throughout the Coronavirus pandemic to businesses within the region and people within its communities.

The firm’s Plymouth office decided they wanted to ‘give something back’ to people in their communities, by donating enough money to help feed those in need, through their chosen charity of the year, Devon and Cornwall Food Action.

Raising £1,170, the firm has helped 117 families have a Christmas meal this year‐ it costs approximately £10 to feed a family of four.

The firm is no stranger when it comes to fundraising, particularly for Devon and Cornwall Food Action.

Earlier this year, the firm hosted a quiz night at the new state of the art Mayflower Grandstand at Plymouth Argyle Football Club, where it raised just over £5,000.

The food charity is run by a group of volunteers who deliver meal parcels where needed directly to people in need via recognized referral agencies. On average, over 300 food parcels are distributed every week.

Alan Dunne, director of Devon and Cornwall Food Action, said: “We are blown away by the generosity of Bishop Fleming and are proud to be their charity of the year.

“All the funds raised will go to helping fed families this Christmas and giving them a Christmas, they deserve.

“Bishop Fleming have opened the door for us to the masses of the Plymouth business scene and have given us a great opportunity to connect.

“As a charity we’re not just looking for money, we’re in need of volunteers, particularly professionals who can give us advice to help the charity run.”
