Bishop Fleming Announces Sponsorship of RWA Exhibition in Bristol

We are proud to announce our sponsorship of the Royal West of England Academy’s (RWA) latest exhibition, Found Cities, Lost Objects: Women in the City.

As a responsible business and longstanding supporter of gender equality in the community, we are thrilled to sponsor the RWA in showcasing contemporary art that challenges societal norms and sheds light on important issues.

The RWA exhibition will be held at the Royal West of England Academy, Bristol from 19 May – 13 August 2023.
 

About the event:

Found Cities, Lost Objects: Women in the City, is a national touring exhibition curated for the Arts Council Collection by Turner Prize-winning artist and cultural activist Lubaina Himid CBE.

This exhibition of over 60 works, including some by Bristol-based artists, presents a wide array of modern and contemporary art, including painting, sculpture, photography and film from both the Arts Council Collection and artists’ studios.
 

Mellony Taper - Renamed City

The work in this exhibition can sometimes appear challenging but it encourages visitors to view the city through a woman’s eyes, and questions our understanding of the urban city. Found Cities, Lost Objects addresses themes ranging from safety and navigation to concepts of belonging and power and fun, freedom and discovery.

Included in the exhibition are works from the Arts Council Collection by Found Cities, Lost Objects features works by Sophie Calle, Helen Cammock, Milena Dragicevic, Anthea Hamilton, Young In Hong, Markéta Luskačová, Margaret Murray, Cornelia Parker, Susan Pui San Lok, Hannah Starkey and Magda Stawarska-Beavan, also including work by Bristol artists Valda Jackson, Mellony Taper, Beth Carter RWA, Huma Mulji, and Veronica Vickery, amongst others.
